Lionel Richie Gives Fellow ’Idol’ Judge Luke Bryan a Piano Lesson

”All you need to do is find four chords.”

That’s the advice that newly minted American Idol judge Lionel Richie gives fellow new judge Luke Bryan during a quick backstage piano lesson during the first auditions for the upcoming reboot of the reality series. In a clip posted on Instagram, Katy Perry, who rounds out the show’s panel, leans on the piano and admires both Bryan’s playing and Richie’s advice.

Although the judges haven’t known each other personally for that long, it appears they’re already becoming close friends. Bryan has covered some of Richie’s tunes in concert — and they’ve even performed live together — so it’s no surprise to see them bonding over a basic piano lesson.
