In a candid video confession, embattled former Big Brother star Ben Zabel has revealed he doesn’t think he can be saved.

The 31-year-old, who has been open about his mental health issues after being rushed to hospital for a drug overdose in November last year, has been touring the United States with fellow reality personality Tim Dormer.

In a ten-part web series documenting their quest to discover the meaning of happiness, Tim breaks down when his long-time friend opens up about his demons.

’I feel like a failure’: Tim Dormer breaks down when embattled fellow Big Brother star Ben Zabel admits he doesn’t think he can be saved

’I think today made me feel like a failure,’ Ben says in a sneak peek clip from The Graceland Happiness Project. ’And I don’t see a way in which that’s going to change, which makes me feel like I can’t be saved.’

Collapsing under the weight of the confession, Tim is seen ’I don’t think I’ve got the answer to make you happy,’ he says.

’The trip although fun isn’t going to make you happy long term. Purpose is what makes you happy.’

The journey of self-discovery uses Ben’s passion for his musical idol, Elvis Presley as a cue for their activities but encourages the pair to voice their mental and emotional concerns.

Journey of self-discovery: He and Tim have recorded a web series of their journey to the United States on a quest to discover the meaning of happiness

Despite many upbeat moments which see the friends visit the studio where Elvis recorded many of his hits, celebrate the singer’s 80th birthday, and meet colourful impersonators, there are also times when the mood darkens.

While Ben, who suffers from depression and anxiety, agrees the experience won’t make him happy, he still hopes to gain something from the introspection accompanying their travels.

’I don’t think this trip will make me happy, that doesn’t mean that I won’t enjoy it because I have been, but I think this trip will maybe shine a light on why I’m unhappy,’ he says.

In a previous clip posted ahead of the series’ April 15 release, Ben talks through what was going through his mind the day he attempted to take his own life.

Fun times: The pair share many upbeat moments together including a visit to the studio where Elvis recorded many of his hits, celebrating the singer’s 80th birthday, and meeting colourful impersonators

’Happiness comes from purpose’: Tim admits at one point that he doesn’t think the trip will make Ben happy

’I don’t know if I was killing myself because I was not winning. I just wasn’t happy,’ he explains before adding: ’I’m a glass half-empty person’.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia last month about his trip to Graceland, Tim said: ’I guess that’s what it was all about, getting Ben out of the house and having a positive experience and connecting with other people’.

’I can’t wait to share this story when the web series comes out because there’s a lot of people that struggle with mental illness like Ben and I think they can really connect to it.’

’I still chat to Ben and he still has rough days but that’s the reality. There is no happy ending when it comes to mental illness, it’s a hard struggle.’

Mission accomplished: Tim says the trip was about ’getting Ben out of the house and having a positive experience and connecting with other people’

Opens up about his mental health battles: Ben suffers from depression and anxiety

In a press release for the web series, Tim added that it wasn’t just the change in environment which made a difference to Ben during the trip, but having suitable company to share the new experiences with.

Undoubtedly humbled to have been the one by Ben’s side, Tim said in the statement: ’I thought Ben was going to have one of these life changing moments that travel often brings, that he’d come back a happier person.

’But what surprised me was that visiting these childhood dream places wasn’t the therapy Ben needed, it was having someone to share them with’.
