Keith Chegwin’s emotions have got the better of him again.

The telly legend – who is facing eviction from the Celebrity Big Brother house this week – has broken down in the Diary Room over the pressures of living in the most famous house in the land.

Speaking to Big Brother about his nomination, he says he’d be ’chuffed’ if people choose to save him but will be happy whatever happens.

Then, the former Naked Jungle host begins to cry and adds: ”The public have been really good to me… whatever way it goes, I’ll be happy.”

It’s not the first time Keith’s become teary in the house.

Speaking to Big Brother about how he’s coping in the house, the telly legend opened up last week about his cleaning habits and how he’s not usually like this and he doesn’t usually spend time with his hands scrubbing a u-bend.

Going on to explain why he’s been keeping busy in the house, Keith began to choke up when talking about how he was trying to keep busy to stop him from missing his wife.

He said: ”I really miss my wife. I love her so much that I try not to have time on my own. Ooh. Got me.”

Keith recently opened up about being sober for 22 years after his drinking drove him to feel suicidal.

The Celebrity Big Brother star revealed he cut himself off from the world, and admitted: “I wanted to die and just end it all. I’d had enough.”

In his book Shaken Not Stirred, Keith, 58, said he first got a taste for booze aged 10, when he downed a bottle of Babysham at a party.

Alcohol took over his life in the 80s, when he was married to Swap Shop co-star Maggie Philbin and would drink two bottles of whisky a day.

But after his first spell in rehab, he was soon back to his old tricks, sneaking off to the shop to buy whisky.

“I drank half and threw the bottle in a hedge on the way home. Then went back and finished it later,” he said.

“And a new trick I’d picked up at the clinic was drinking cough mixture.”

He admitted it took three trips to rehab to clean up but by then Maggie had left with their daughter.

Opening up about the dark days to his CBB housemates, Keith, who has been sober for 22  years, said: “I hid it everywhere. I’d do all the tricks, I hid it in suit pockets, guttering and down the back of the sofa, car, everywhere.”
