Nike Mercurial firar 15-årsjubileum med en ny version av 1998 års El Fenómeno skoNya Nike Mercurial Vapor IX SE använder modern teknik för att hylla en ikon. 1998 lanserade Nike den första Mercurial fotbollsskon – en sko inspirerad av och designad för en atlet som spelade en helt ny sorts fotboll. Spelaren var brasilianska fotbollsfenomenet Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima, även kallad ”El Fenómeno”, men kanske mest känd som Ronaldo. Budskapet för Nike Mercurial-kampanjen, ”Ultralight, so your legs can be as fast as your imagination”, var en spegling av Ronaldos otroliga kreativitet och snabbhet.
